Users Field
The Users field lets you tag a record to a member of your organization. The list of options is automatically populated with all users in your company's Jestor account — no manual setup required.
For instructions on how to access field types or how to add one, see Field Types.
Capabilities
- Tag a record to a user in your organization
- Automatically reflects all users currently in the account
- Use as Kanban stages by assigning records to team members as columns
- Can be set as a required field
- Supports tooltip configuration
- Can be filtered, sorted, and used in automations
Options
All users — When toggled on, the field automatically includes every user in your organization's account. This toggle is enabled by default. However, it is recommended to disable this and manually select only the users who should be available for selection — this avoids cluttering the list with users who are not relevant to that specific field or workflow.
Tooltip Adds a short description visible on hover, useful for guiding users on how to fill the field.
Required field When enabled, a record cannot be saved without selecting at least one user in this field.
Use cases and examples
Task assignment — In a project or bug tracker table, use the Users field to assign ownership of each task or issue to a specific team member.
Approval workflows — Tag the responsible reviewer or approver for a record, then use automations to notify them when action is needed.
Access control — In process-oriented tables, use the Users field to indicate who is responsible for or involved in each record, making it easier to filter views by user.
Kanban by assignee — Use the Users field as the stage field in a Kanban view to organize cards by the person they are assigned to, giving each team member their own column.
Keep in mind
- The Users field does not restrict who can view or edit the record — it only tags users to the record. Access control is managed separately through Jestor's permissions settings.
- It does not automatically notify the tagged user — notifications need to be configured via automations.
- The field reflects the current users in the account. If a user is removed from the account, they will no longer appear as an option, but existing records that already have them tagged will retain the value.
FAQ
1- Can I tag multiple users to the same record? No. The Users field supports only one user per record. To tag multiple users, use the Multiple Users field instead.
2- Does the list update automatically when a new user joins the account? Yes. The list is dynamic and automatically includes any new users added to your organization's account.
3- Can I use the Users field in automations? Yes. You can use it as a trigger condition or as a field to be updated in automation actions, such as assigning a user when a record reaches a certain status.
4- Can I have more than one Users field in the same table? Yes. You can add multiple Users fields to the same table, for example one for "Owner" and another for "Reviewer".
