Menu
Show navigation to Members — when disabled, the main navigation bar and action bar are hidden from all Members.
Show navigation to Members on mobile — when disabled, the main navigation bar and action bar are hidden from all Members on mobile. Jestor does not recommend disabling this.
Show navigation to Viewers — when disabled, the main navigation bar and action bar are hidden from all Viewers.
Show navigation to Viewers on mobile — when disabled, the main navigation bar and action bar are hidden from all Viewers on mobile. Jestor does not recommend disabling this.
Home app — select a custom app to redirect users to when they click the top-left logo in the main bar. If left blank, clicking the logo redirects to the standard Jestor home page. This setting is only active when standard navigation is disabled.
Tools
Show Upload Data shortcut to members — displays the Upload Data option to all Members. Uploading still follows roles and conditions defined in your workspace.
Databases
Hide tables from Members — when enabled, Members cannot see or select tables when navigating Jestor. They can still access table information inside apps and app pages. Jestor recommends always keeping this enabled and using apps to build tools instead. This is not a permissioning feature — you still need to configure roles and advanced permissioning to control actual data access.
Use cases and examples
- Hiding navigation from Viewers to deliver a cleaner, app-like experience
- Hiding database tables from Members to keep the interface focused on apps rather than raw data
Keep in mind
- Hiding navigation from a user role does not remove their access to data — it only hides the UI elements
- Hide tables from Members does not replace roles and advanced permissioning; it only affects visibility in the navigation
- Hiding mobile navigation for Members or Viewers is not recommended by Jestor
FAQ
1- If I hide navigation from Members, can they still use their apps?
Yes. Hiding navigation only removes the navigation bar and action bar from the interface. Members can still access and use apps they have permission to view.
2- Does hiding tables from Members also hide them from Viewers?
No. Hide tables from Members only affects the Member role. Viewer visibility is controlled separately by their own role settings and permissioning.
3- Does the Upload Data shortcut respect role-based conditions even when visible?
Yes. Enabling Show Upload Data shortcut to members only makes the shortcut visible. The actual upload action still follows the roles and conditions configured in your workspace.
